On a special class of Stanley-Reisner ideals

For an $n$-gon with vertices at points $1,2,cdots,n$, the Betti numbers of its suspension, the simplicial complex that involves two more vertices $n+1$ and $n+2$, is known. In this paper, with a constructive and simple proof, wegeneralize this result to find the minimal free resolution and Betti numbers of the $S$-module $S/I$ where  $S=K[x_{1},cdots, x_{n}]$ and $I$ is the associated ideal to ...

Graded Betti Numbers of Ideals with Linear Quotients

In this paper we show that every ideal with linear quotients is componentwise linear. We also generalize the Eliahou-Kervaire formula for graded Betti numbers of stable ideals to homogeneous ideals with linear quotients.

Betti numbers of strongly color-stable ideals and squarefree strongly color-stable ideals

In this paper, we will show that the color-squarefree operation does not change the graded Betti numbers of strongly color-stable ideals. In addition, we will give an example of a nonpure balanced complex which shows that colored algebraic shifting, which was introduced by Babson and Novik, does not always preserve the dimension of reduced homology groups of balanced simplicial complexes.

Betti Numbers of Monomial Ideals and Shifted Skew Shapes

We present two new problems on lower bounds for Betti numbers of the minimal free resolution for monomial ideals generated in a fixed degree. The first concerns any such ideal and bounds the total Betti numbers, while the second concerns ideals that are quadratic and bihomogeneous with respect to two variable sets, but gives a more finely graded lower bound. These problems are solved for certai...

Minimal Graded Betti Numbers and Stable Ideals

Let k be a field, and let R = k[x1, x2, x3]. Given a Hilbert function H for a cyclic module over R, we give an algorithm to produce a stable ideal I such that R/I has Hilbert function H and uniquely minimal graded Betti numbers among all R/J with the same Hilbert function, where J is another stable ideal in R. We also show that such an algorithm is impossible in more variables and disprove a re...
